UC & Supported Housing (EL22UCSH)

Description
Supported Housing rents are coming under closer scrutiny from many HB Offices.

UC claimants living in certain types of supported housing - 'specified' and 'temporary' accommodation - get help with their rent through Housing Benefit rather than the UC Housing Element. The DWP has recently issued guidance to help HB Offices make decisions about whether to accept a HB claim from a UC claimant as well as how to assess that HB.

This course explains those definitions and looks at the implications for both UC claimants and the housing provider. It highlights and examines some key problem areas.

It also explains how much HB a UC claimant will receive, and how certain changes in circumstances (such as moving in and moving on) can affect the UC award.

An essential course for anyone working in Supported Housing.

Plenty of examples and case studies to review, with tests at every step—to help you get to grips with this complex topic. The course will take approximately 120 mins to complete with a quiz at the end.

Aimed at: Housing professionals, and advisers working with benefit claimants living in supported housing.
A basic knowledge of the benefits system is assumed.
